Have you ever wondered why some people are more successful than others? We all have examples from our school or college days where the classmates who were not perceived as smart achieved high amount of success later in their careers.
What sets others apart in their journey to success?
Although we shouldn’t compare our lives with others, within our own paradigm, we should be able to achieve whatever we desire.
Before diving into how to achieve success, let’s discuss what success really is.
Success is not merely about dreaming about the prospective future. It can never be achieved by complaining what one lacks. Instead, Success is attained by taking proactive, practical, and intentional steps in achieving both personal and professional goals.

Action is the building block of success
Action transforms abstract dreams and goals into reality. Without action, dreams, wishes, and aspirations are just unfulfilled desires. If you wish to succeed, act on your goals immediately and consistently. Procrastination is the biggest obstacle in achieving success; overcome it by taking action in time.
Action produces more action, and inaction produces more inaction. Taking action will always motivate you to move forward, while lack of action will demotivate you and lead to postponing your dreams.
Even if you fail initially or believe that you know nothing about the subject area of your pursuit, keep moving forward. Things will clear up soon and you will gain knowledge. Seek help from people in the related area, but keep moving, keep taking action every day.
My Personal experience with action
- Teaching always fascinated me; I wanted to teach the way I wanted to learn. But I procrastinated and didn’t act on it for a long time. It suddenly occurred to me that if I do not take action right away, nothing will happen by itself. Soon Ohio Computer Academy was born. Initially, I was the sole instructor teaching a couple of courses, but I was soon joined by other like-minded subject matter experts. In no time, we began teaching a comprehensive range of IT courses from basics to advanced. A small action I took got rewarded by satisfied customers across the industry.
- As far as I can recall, I have always dreamed of writing, but I kept postponing my passion since I was apprehensive about my ability to write. With much hesitation, I took a small action and wrote a short blog on QlikView. The blog was appreciated by many which boosted my confidence to write more. Soon my blogs were popular and a publisher contacted to me to write a book. The success of the one book gave me courage to write more. Over the years I have authored 10+ books and still writing. A small action which I took years ago produced remarkable results.
Taking small and consistent steps will lead to exponential growth. The impact of each small action builds upon the previous ones, resulting in more substantial achievements. As you make small progress towards your goals, your confidence and hope of success will increase, creating a chain reaction where you will be motivated to work harder and harder.
